Fun Shopping in Rocky Point, Sonora, Mex

When you come to this beautiful tourist and retirement community called Rocky Point you must go over to the Old Port/Malecon area not only for the ocean view, but for everything from clothing to jewelry to kitchenware to shoes and much much more.  Streets are lined on both sides with curio shops and local vendors love to wheel and deal. You can get many things cheap, cheap, cheap.  Oh, and don't forget fresh fish markets where you can buy sweet succulent shrimp and fish caught fresh that same morning.  There are many  restaurants, ice cream parlors and ample parking there as well..  So plan a whole day for shopping here at Rocky Point.  It can we worth your 4 hr. drive  here.  How appropriate, a Statue of a Fisherman stands high and right in front of the beautiful Sea of Cortez.

More Feb 2013 Fun in Rocky Point, Sonora. Mx

What a wonderful, sunny, warm day here in Rocky Point, AZ's closet beach front community, for the annual TopChef contest held Feb 16.  Great fun for everyone, some even came with their best friend...the dog.  There were many booths offering great food, and beer too, curios, and home made jewelry.  Chefs from the Mayan Palace took 1st place.  Free gifts were given to guests of the event and live entertainment keep all singing and dancing thruout the day.  Don't worry if you missed this year,  there's next year so keep posted for the date, usually during MardiGras/Carnival week end.  Be sure to mark your calendars for April 6, 2013 for the Big Horseshoe Tournament held out at Cholla Bay, across from the local  park.  Everyone is welcome, contestants or spectators.  Lots of beer and food and FUN.  See you there.

Feb 2013 Events In Rocky Point, Sonora, Mex

When visiting Rocky Point you MUST come over to the newly renovated "Old Port/Malecon" area.  You can sit on any  bench under a big palm tree for shade and be mesmerized by the beautiful ocean views.  There are vendors selling curios, musicians singing and playing their guitars or you can go to one of the nearby ice cream stands for refreshments while  unwinding on a warm sunny afternoon.  My favorite way to unwind, I almost always see Dolphins.  On February 16th the city will be celebrating Carnival/Mardi Gras with parades and activities like the Iron Chef Competition to be held at the Shrimp Park on the main Blvd Benito Juarez and Fremont.  Starts at 11 am, with live music, stuff to buy, and lots of tasty food.  Funds generated to benefit the local Fire Dept. and 2 Fish Ministries who help feed the homeless.  It's a real fun event, hope to see you there.  Out at Cholla Bay the O.B.S.C. will be hosting another parade, dinner and party...party...party.  After all it is Mardi Gras week end?  So take a quick trip to Rocky Point, only a 4 hr. drive south, for great ocean views, sandy beaches, warm days and a really Fun and Safe time for the entire family.  You will not be disappointed.  Comiing soon is Spring Break.............can't wait.
